Michael J. Weitzman, DDS

Michael J. Weitzman

Dr. Weitzman has been a practicing dentist since 1977 and has been with Valley Dental Associates since 1988. He has practiced a wide range of general dentistry on patients ranging from children to seniors, and that’s his favorite part of his practice. “I can provide a patient with dentures in the morning and see a 4-year old in the afternoon,” he says. “The best part of my job is sitting in the chair, doing dentistry and working with my patients.”

Dr. Weitzman believes every patient is unique and provides an opportunity to perform quality dentistry with the utmost comfort, ease and reliability. His practice includes general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, implants and restorations such as bridges and crowns. He has recently added a new area of treatment, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, to his practice.

“It’s been very rewarding to see patients’ patient’s apnea hypoxia index (AHI) numbers drop drastically and hear how much better they feel,” he says. With the oral appliance, patients are getting much better sleep and not waking up as tired. “I’ve treated several patients who have tried CPAP machines and were intolerant of them, and I had one patient who bought an appliance on the Internet that was supposed to help stop snoring, but it was unsuccessful. Once we fit a patient with the right oral appliance, they are finally finding the sleep apnea relief they’ve been looking for.”

Dr. Weitzman’s advice to anyone putting off a visit to the dentist is to make the call and schedule the appointment. “People who are suffering with sleep apnea, dental pain or other oral health issues are opening themselves up to greater risks,” he says. “See your dentist twice a year for routine cleanings. We understand your concerns and we’ll be as gentle as possible. Just don’t ignore it; it will get worse.”

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Weitzman enjoys going to football games with his sons and keeping up with University of Maryland sports. He is originally from Baltimore, MD.
